How AI describes Center for Research on Foundation Models (CRFM)

The Center for Research on Foundation Models (CRFM) at Stanford HAI is an interdisciplinary initiative focused on the study, development, and deployment of foundation models, uniting faculty, students, researchers, and engineers from 10+ departments. Its work spans technical foundations (data, systems, architectures, training, inference, interpretability, evaluation) and the creation of domain-specific foundation models in areas like law, music, robotics, and biomedicine. CRFM also examines societal impact and AI policy, addressing transparency, openness, copyright, privacy, systemic risk, and providing evidence-based policy support to governments.
