NetML is a research initiative applying machine learning to networking problems since 2006, pioneering ML-based analysis of network traffic for security tasks (spam detection, botnet detection, phishing) and, since 2008, for network performance. Their current work spans data representation, feature extraction, synthetic data generation, traffic generation, state-space models, multimodal inference, and real-time model deployment for network analysis. They publish datasets and code for reproducible research, offer course materials, and are funded by DARPA, NSF, and other institutions, with a mission to develop ML-driven solutions that optimize network performance and security.
